KarRC RAS delegation is on a visit in India
KarRC RAS delegation headed by Acting Director General Olga Bakhmet is currently on a visit in India at the invitation of the Indian Institute of Science. The delegation also includes KarRC RAS Deputy Director for Science Administration Alexander Slabunov, Director of the Northern Water Problems Institute Yulia Lukina, and Chief Officer of the KarRC RAS Department for International Cooperation Aleksey Tsvetkov.

Five projects by Karelian scientists received grant support from the Presidential Foundation for Nature
Nature conservation projects by scientists from the KarRC RAS have been granted top-level support. Their implementation will be funded by the Presidential Foundation for Nature. Scientists from KarRC RAS talked about their research on the language and historical heritage of peoples of Karelia at a conference in the Kizhi Museum
Researchers from the Institute of Linguistics, Literature and History KarRC RAS presented the findings of their studies, including field research, at the scientific conference organized by the Kizhi Open Air Museum. Ethnologist Sergey Minvaleev talked about the formation of the ethnocultural landscape of the Ludic Karelian territory, which for centuries lay at the crossroads of intensive interethnic contacts. Historian Alexander Krivonozhenko presented the scientific, practical, and educational outcomes of the project "Watermill: A Symbol of the Karelian Countryside".

Competition for participation in the KarRC RAS’s youth school for aquatic ecosystem research is ten applications per spot
The selection process for applications for KarRC RAS’s international project "Under the Pressure of Global Climate Change: A Youth Network for Water Ecosystem Research" is over. A total of 170 applications were submitted by young researchers from scientific and educational organizations of Russia and the CIS. The winners come from Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and other countries.

Karelian scientists published a dictionary of Livvi Karelian village names
Scientists Denis Kuzmin, Irma Mullonen, and Ekaterina Zakharova of the Institute of Linguistics, Literature and History KarRC RAS have prepared and released a new publication: "Livvi Villages from A to Ä: A Dictionary of Populated Place Names". This edition follows up to the 2021 "Dictionary of Ludic Populated Place Names". The design was created by the well-known Karelian artist Margarita Yufa. The work on the book took four years.

KarRC RAS and RBK company sign a cooperation agreement to study and utilize shungite
The KaRRC RAS and the Karelian Investment Company RBK signed a cooperation agreement relating to projects for the study of shungite and its application in various sectors of the economy: from animal feeds to radio frequency shielding materials. The agreement envisages research, development, and innovation activities, as well as doing knowledge-intensive business.

Celebratory joint session of Academic Councils at the KarRC RAS launches the Centre’s 80th Anniversary events
On Friday, February 6, a joint meeting of the Academic Councils of the KarRC RAS, Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU), and Karelian Branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) was held at the KarRC RAS. These annual sessions are dedicated to the Russian Science Day, celebrated on February 8. This Academic Council gathering inaugurated the Center's anniversary year – 80 years ago, the Karelian-Finnish Research Facility of the USSR Academy of Sciences, from which the KarRC RAS traces its origins, was founded.
The academics were welcomed by KarRC RAS leader Olga Bakhmet, who outlined the plans for the anniversary year.

At the celebratory session of Academic Councils of the KarRC RAS, Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU), and Karelian Branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) dedicated to the Russian Science Day certificates of honor and letters of appreciation from ministries and government agencies were awarded to staff of scientific divisions and winners of the KarRC RAS young scientists competition were announced.
